Tigers claw Valley in 45-27 win

Displaying their best offensive showing of the season, the North Bend Tigers closed their 1966 football season with a crackling 45-27 win over the Valley Terriors on the opponents field last Friday night [Nov. 4, 1966].

Junior halfback Gregg Kucera, playing the best game of his career, rushed for 225 yards in 13 carries. He tallied three touchdowns on runs of 16, 89 and 35 yards. Tom Pollard, senior fullback, also had a good night as he rushed for 123 yards in 23 carries. He scored two six-pointers on runs of 5 and 6 yards. He also kicked three extra points.

Quarterback Bill Leftwich scored the other two Tiger touchdowns on 2 short plunges. In all, the Tigers racked up 30 first downs and rushed for 433 yards. The Tigers led 13-0 at the end of the first quarter and 26 to 7 at half time. At the three-quarter mark the North Bend gridders were out in front 39 to 13.

With this victory, the Tigers closed their season with a 3-6 record.
