Farmland Basketball League

whistleInformation for prospective basketball officials of the Farmland Basketball League

The Farmland Basketball League will use NSAA registered basketball officials for all league games. If you are interested in officiating in the league, please e-mail us at farmland@northbendeagle.com.

Some information about the league:

• Games will be played at home sites in North Bend, Scribner, Dodge and Blair, Nebraska.

• Refs will work just one game per night.

• A two-man crew will be paid $100 before the game begins. If a forfeit is called because one team does not have five players show up, officials will be paid $50. If a forfeit is called after a game starts, officials will be paid the full $100. See Articles 9 and 11 of the Farmland Constitution.

• In general, games will be played Sunday evenings at 6 p.m. starting in late November and running through late January or early February. (In 2008-09 games played in Blair began at 3:30 because of gym availability)

• The Farmland League will use NFHS rules for high school basketball.

• We are serious about good sportsmanship. Fines and suspensions have been put in place for players who do not behave with respect toward the officials and opponents. Players receiving technical fouls will be fined $10 by the league. Either the commissioner or the deputy commissioner of the league will be present at nearly all of the games. Throughout the entire 08-09 season, only two technical fouls were handed out.

If you have any questions or are interested in officiating for the FBL, please contact us at farmland@northbendeagle.com. You may also call commissioner Nathan Arneal at 402-276-3092. To find out more about the league, you can look over the league constitution.
