The Eagle is available to read online. This is not to be confused with the website northbendeagle.com. We're talking about the actual Eagle just like the one subscribers get in their mailbox every week.

The e-edition of the Eagle is now actually sharper and clearer than the print edition. And with our latest innovation, the online Eagle is now available with full-color photos!

Here's how it works. Subscribers get a user name and a password, which they enter into the Nebraska New Link website. After logging in you will click on a link that will download a PDF version of the North Bend Eagle to your computer. This will be the very same newspaper, page for page, that is available over the counter in North Bend and through the mail to our regular subscribers, except the online PDF version will have sharper, full-color photos.

This is ideal for people living outside the area where sometimes the Eagle might be delivered a few days or even a week or more late. With an e-subscription, you will be able to read the Eagle the same time as our local readers. The e-version is usually online and ready to download by Wednesday, the day of publication, or sometimes even Tuesday.

Please note: Right now technology -at least affordable technology - does not allow e-newspapers to be displayed on iPads. We know how convenient that would be for many readers, and people in the industry are working on the problem.

How much does all this wonderful technology cost, you ask? A year-long e-subscription to the Eagle is just $27. This is actually two dollars cheaper than a print subscription. If you want an e-subscription in addition to the regular print edition, you can tack on an e-sub to your print sub for just $10 more. In other words, in-state subscribers can get both the e-sub and print edition for $39 a year, while out-of-state subscribers can get both for $42.

Try it out! Click here to download an example of the Eagle's e-edition. It will take a minute or two to download the May 5, 2011, edition of the Eagle. Your PDF reader will have an option to zoom in and out and arrows to move among the pages. Or, if it opens the pages up in your web browser, you can zoom in and out like you would a normal web page and scroll through different pages.
