Breast cancer survivors to be honored

As part of Cancer Awareness Month the North Bend Central cheer and dance squad invite local breast cancer survivors and family members affected by breast cancer to the Oct. 21 football game at 7 p.m. where they will be recognized and honored. The squad’s goal is to celebrate the lives of those who have survived breast cancer as well as honor the fight that the women and their families endure and what they achieve through community support.

The squad is assembling Jars of Hope to collect money that will be donated Oct. 21 to Project Pink’d during halftime of the football game. There will also be 125 balloons released during a short ceremony honoring the 1,250 Nebraskans who will be diagnosed with breast cancer this year.

The dance and cheer squad will also be selling home-baked goodies they’ll create during a team bonding night, in addition to setting out luminary bags to honor local survivors.

Project Pink’d will be hosting an informational booth that evening.
