Local churches set Christmas schedulesby Mary Le Arneal Area churches are lighting the way in celebration of the birth of Christ. Many will have special services this season, and all are invited to participate and celebrate. St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church in Pleasant Valley will open for a Christmas Eve service Dec. 24, at 7 p.m. The church, which closed in 2002, is located near the intersection of county roads L and 4, eight miles north and three miles west of North Bend. St. Peter Lutheran Church will have its children’s Christmas program on Wednesday, Dec. 17, at 6:30 p.m. There will be two Christmas Eve services: candlelight services at 3:30 and 5:30. Christmas Day service will be at 9 a.m. The United Presbyterian Church will have a children’s Christmas program Sunday, Dec. 21, at 10 a.m. A candlelight service on Christmas Eve at 5 p.m. is planned. St. John Ridgeley Lutheran Church will have the youth Christmas program Dec. 21, at 9 a.m. with coffee and fellowship to follow. On Dec. 24, there will be a live nativity Christmas service at 6:30 p.m. St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church will have Christmas Eve Mass at 5 p.m. and New Year’s Eve Mass at 5 p.m. St. Leo Catholic Church in Snyder will have Christmas Day Mass at 10:15 a.m. New Year’s Eve Mass is at 4 p.m. In Morse Bluff St. George Catholic Church will have Christmas Eve Cedar Hill Sacred Heart Catholic Church will have midnight Mass at midnight.
