Relay for Life at city park Sept. 27
NORTH BEND – If you enjoy walking and would like to make a positive impact on the world, this event is for you! On Saturday, Sept. 27, from 4 to 8 p.m., there will be a Relay for Life event at the North Bend City Park. The local churches are doing this in conjunction with the American Cancer Society. If you would be interested in being on a relay team, go to www.relayforlife.org/NorthBendne and sign up. When you do, it makes you eligible to receive a free T-shirt from the American Cancer Society. The name of our team is Team Hope. This is also where you can make a donation. If you do so, please be sure to signify that it is for the North Bend, NE Relay, and give the name of our team, Team Hope. We are also selling luminaria bags for $10 each for the luminaria walk as the relay closes. Luminaries are in honor of people you know who have died of cancer. When you purchase a bag, we will put the name of the person you wish to honor and other decorations if requested on the bag. You can purchase as many bags as you want, just be certain to let us know whose name you want on the bag. You can buy luminaries from Kathy Mensik, Elaine Vech, Audrey Chromy, Karen Dunn, Pat Fittje, Brandi Arneal, Mary Le Arneal, Abby Stone, Carol Diffey Clement, Sharon Flamme, or Rev. Connie Stone. There will be a bake sale during the relay, so come and buy yourself some great goodies while offering your support to those in the relays. Our goal is to raise $10,000, all to go toward the fight against cancer, so we need all the help you can give us! We are planning on offering games and having food vendors there as well. So remember the date! If any businesses would care to sponsor the relay, please go to the website listed above, or contact Stone at the information listed below. This can be a great community event for an extremely important cause, as so many in our community and surrounding communities are or have been affected by cancer.
