The North Bend Central Board of Education met Aug. 15 at the high school with the board hearing from facilities director Roy Wright on the preliminary drawing of a new concession, bathroom and storage area at the athletic field used for football and track and field.

The plan they have now is preliminary. It will be approximately 1,600 square feet and the front area is where concessions would be sold. The back area would contain enlarged restrooms and storage area. The cost ranges from $1.2 million for block siding or $700,000 for a steel building. The exterior would match the softball field with the name tag “Tiger Territory.”

Wright said the biggest challenge they face is making everything fit. One factor to be considered is placement of the building with consideration of the flood plain and the slope.

A short discussion was warranted by interest in creating an NBC Hall of Fame. How the alumni would be selected and how they would be honored were questions brought up by the board.

“There are other ways to recognize a Hall of Fame rather that spend money on another video,” board member Bob Feurer said.

No action was taken and the subject was tabled.
High school principal Brenda Petersen said they had the ice cream

social for middle school on Aug. 7 this year so that the middle school teachers who also coach could attend. It was very successful.
