Churches plan special Easter services

Easter is the most important Christian festival of the year when Christians celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Area churches have services at this time and invite area residents and visitors to join them.

St. John Ridgeley Lutheran Church will have services at 7 p.m. Good Friday at Ridgeley and Maundy Thursday service at United at 7 p.m. in Scribner. St. John Ridgeley will have a sunrise service on Easter at 7 a.m. with communion and breakfast to follow.

United Presbyterian Church will have Maundy Thursday service with communion served at 7 p.m. A Sonrise Service will be at 7 a.m. at the church with breakfast to follow.

At St. Charles Borremeo Catholic Church there will be Holy Thursday Mass at 8 p.m. and Good Friday service at 8 p.m. Holy Saturday will be at 8:20 p.m. with Easter Sunday service at 8:30 a.m.

St Leo Catholic Church in Snyder will have Holy Thursday Mass at 6 p.m. Good Friday services will be at 6 p.m. Easter Sunday mass will be at 10 a.m.

St Peter Lutheran Church will have its Maudy Thursday and good Friday services at 7 p.m. Easter Sunrise Service with communion will be at 7 a.m. with breakfast sponsored by the youth. The late Easter service will be at 9:30 a.m.

Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Cedar Hill, will celebrate the Lord’s Supper on Holy Thursday at 7 p.m. From 8 p.m. to midnight they will have Adoration with confessions. Divine Mercy Chaplet Stations of the Cross will be at 3 p.m. on Good Friday. On Holy Saturday it will have morning prayer at 8 a.m. The resurrection will be celebrated at 8 a.m. on Easter Sunday.

St. George Catholic Church, Morse Bluff, will have morning prayer on Good Friday at 8 a.m. and at 7 p.m. Liturgy of the Passion will begin. Holy Saturday Easter Vigil will begin at 8:30 p.m. The resurrection will be celebrated Sunday at 10 a.m.

The doors are open to all to attend these special services.
