Board deals with dampness in wrestling room
by Mary Le Arneal At the May 9 meeting of the North Bend Central Board of Education, wrestling coach Ken Streff discussed the moisture problem in the wrestling practice room. As previously approved, holes have been made in the wrestling practice rooms floor. The holes showed the dampness of the recent rains seeping under the concrete. “When we pick up the mats there is scum, mold of some sort, on the bottom of them,” Streff said. The wrestling practice room was built in 2003 following specifications set at that time. Moisture was noticed shortly after construction. After the new construction in 2013 enveloped the wrestling practice room building, a large amount of roof runoff was eliminated, so rain is not believed to be a contributing factor.
