Several North Bend residents reported seeing a car racing through the residential streets of town at a high rate of speed with its headlights out Monday evening, Jan. 30. Their calls to law enforcement led the recovery of the stolen car.

Dodge County sheriff’s deputies first observed the car at 10:15 p.m. traveling southbound on County Road 11 three miles east of North Bend. The car then turned west on Highway 30 toward North Bend. The car reached speeds in excess of 100 mph and passed at least one vehicle on the right side.

Deputies lost track of the car when it reached North Bend, turned onto a side street and turned its headlights out.

Calls from the public to 911 helped deputies locate the car, which the suspects had abandoned. The vehicle had been reported stolen in Lincoln.

No property damage was reported as a result of the car speeding through the streets of North Bend. Deputies did not recover a gun and have no reason to believe the suspects were armed.

The matter is still under investigation by the Dodge County Sheriff’s office, which will release more details when arrests are made.
