Shamrocks end NBC season

Feb. 24- North Bend didn't score its first point until the 4:58 mark of the second quarter against Scotus Tuesday night. Just when it looked like NBC might get back into the game, Monica Boeding hit four straight three-pointers to give Scotus a 22-9 halftime lead. North Bend season ends with a record of 14-6 after the 44-30 loss. Amy Baumert and Stephanie Settles had eight points each to lead North Bend in scoring.

Tekamah wins finale

Feb. 14- Tekamah-Herman raced to a 20-5 lead after one quarter of play and hung on for a 50-42 win over North Bend in the final regular season game for both teams. NBC cut the lead to just six points with 1:18 left but couldn't capitalize on several Tekamah turnovers to make it any closer. The win give Tekamah-Herman the regular season championship of the East Husker Conference. North Bend finishes the year in second place with an 8-1 EHC record.

Tigers sink Clippers

Feb. 10- After Malcolm made a run in the second and early third quarter to take a 38-37 lead, NBC responded with 11 straight points in 1 minute and 39 seconds to take command. Kelly Baumert sparked the scoring explosion with two three pointers. The Tigers ended up with a 78-60 victory.

NBC earns EHC silver

Feb. 7- Tekamah-Herman moved its record to 17-2 and won its first East Husker Conference Tournament since 1983 with a 60-45 win over North Bend. The loss snaps a eight game winning streak for North Bend and prevented NBC from winning its fifth straight EHC tournament crown.

Feb. 5- Lyons-Decatur pushed the North Bend girls to the brink in the regular season game, but the rematch in the East Husker semi-finals wasn't so close. North Bend led 21-12 at halftime before winning by a final of 43-31.

Feb. 2- NBC beat Pender 46-23 in the first round of the East Husker Tournament. North Bend moves on to play Lyons-Decatur in the semi-finals on Thursday.

Quick start dooms Gators

Jan. 30- Kelly Baumert scored 10 points and Samantha Renter dished out three assists as North Bend raced to a 29-13 lead against Wisner-Pilger. North Bend would lead by as much as 18 on its way to a 62-52 win. The loss drops Wisner-Pilger to 6-2 in the East Husker Conference and sets up a de facto regular season conference championship game against Tekamah-Herman Feb. 13.

NBC eeks by Cougars

Jan. 27- In a possible preview of the East Husker Tournament semi-finals next week, North Bend beat Lyons-Decatur 40-39. After the Cougars tied the score, Kelly Baumert hit a free throw to give NBC the one-point win. Both teams shot less than 32 percent from the floor and 50 percent from the free throw line. Sam Renter led the Tigers with 11 points.

KB for 3Tigers trump Trojans

Jan. 24- Scribner-Snyder hung around for a while, but a 10-0 run over a span of less than two minutes in the second quarter pushed a six-point NBC advantage to 16, and North Bend coasted to its sixth straight EHC win.

Oakland-Craig wilts under pressure

Jan. 23- North Bend jumped out to a 30-9 lead only to see Oakland-Craig cut the lead to eight after a 12-0 run to open the second half. The Tigers fought back to regain a 19-point lead before winning 52-37. Kelly Baumert led NBC with 12 points while Amy Baumert added 11.

Tigers make quick work of Dragons

Jan. 15- The NBC girls handled Pender 63-27 Thursday in a make-up game from December, keeping the Tigers perfect within the East Husker.

Arliginton gets past NBC

Jan. 13- After seeing an 18-game home winning streat spanning four seasons snapped Saturday, Arlington made it two home losses in a row as the downed NBC 47-42. North Bend made several runs at the Eagles, but never led during the contest.

Wahoo, NBC go down to the wire

Jan. 10- North Bend and third ranked Wahoo played a thrilling high school basketball game Saturday night, one that came right down to the final seconds.

NBC third at D.C. Holiday Tourney

Dec. 30- North Bend came back from a 10-point deficit late in the third quarter to beat the Columbus High JVs 52-48 in the David City Holiday Tournament consolation game in a very sloppy game. Meri Gross-Rhode, Samantha Renter and Kelly Baumert represented NBC on the all-tournament team.

Dec. 29- David City Aquinas used a 1-3-1 defense to frustrate North Bend's offense and took advantage of multiple fast breaks to defeat the Tigers 54-39 in the first round of the David City Holiday tournament. Samantha Renter led NBC with 10 points and Stephanie Settles had nine. Katie Holoubek had 20 points for the Monarchs, including 10-for-11 from the free throw line.

Stanton makes it close

Dec. 16- Is was nearly as cold in the gym as it was out, as both teams shot below 23 percent from the field. North Bend led by as much as 12 in the third period, but Stanton got as close as four with just a minute left. Meri Gross-Rhode made 7-of-9 free throws in the fourth quarter to secure a 41-34 win for NBC. Gross-Rhode led North Bend in scoring with 12 points, and Amy Baumert was second with nine. Stephanie Settles had 10 rebounds for NBC.

West Point gives NBC first EHC win

Dec. 11- North Bend gave West Point-Beemer its first loss of the young season and kept its own record clean with a 53-28 win. Meri Gross-Rhode again led the Tigers with 17 points while freshman Amy Baumert came off the bench to tally 15 points. Julia Minarick and Sam Renter shared high rebound honros with six each.

Tigers handle Schuyler

Dec. 9- NBC held Schuyler to four points in the second period and none in the fourth quarter to help itself to a 53-23 win. Meri Gross-Rhode led all scorers with 15 points. Sam Renter added 12 points.

NBC blitzes DC

Dec. 6- The Tiges came out with a strong thrid quarter to extend a comfortable lead to an insurmountable one as they pulled away from David City to win 65-33. Kelly Baumert led NBC in scoring with 13 points, while Julia Minarick and Stephanie Settles added 12 a piece.
