Friday night lights were shining brightly Sept. 2 when the first home football game was held at the newly renovated Tiger Stadium. New lights, seating and press box were all on display.

The Voice of the Tigers, Bob Hines, was particularly pleased with the new press box. Friday night was his first view of his new setting.

Hines, a 1974 graduate of North Bend Central, has been the announcing games since volunteering in the mid-’80s and just kept doing it, now covering football and basketball.

“This is really nice compared to the 1960s model we had before,” Hines said. “That’s the one that was here when I was playing football in high school. We don’t have to crawl up a ladder to get where we want to be. There is a lot more room for the press and photographers, filmers and whoever else that needs to be up here.”

NBC technological coordinator Jim Cody set up the electrical and sound system after the press box was competed early last week. IT assistant Nicole Rasmussen was there Friday night for technological support.
