Body found in Platte River

FREMONT – The Dodge County Sheriff’s Office has identified the body of man found in the Platte River near Riverview Shores near North Bend.

On April 24 at approximately 12:45 p.m., two individuals kayaking along the north bank of the Platte River discovered what they believed to be a human body caught in limbs and debris approximately 10 feet from the bank.

Dodge County deputies and the North Bend rescue squad were dispatched to the scene two miles west of North Bend. Members of the Dodge County water rescue team helped with the removal of the body, a white or Hispanic male.

Dodge County investigators contacted surrounding law enforcement agencies to determine if they had any unresolved missing person reports. Colfax County advised of a person missing from Rogers since January. Tattoos of the missing person assisted in identifying the subject as Alex Orellana, 29, of Rogers.

There will be an autopsy performed to determine cause of death.
