Wind storm hits area

Heavy winds struck the North Bend area in the early hours of Tuesday morning, April 9.
OPPD workers fix a series of poles that snapped in the wind just outside of North Bend on County Road 7.
This pole was snapped off near its base by high winds.
Dozens of pivots were tipped over, including this one about five miles north of North Bend.
Another pole snapped off.
A fallen tree blocked this intersection in North Bend.
It seemed as if there were more pivots tipped over than there were standing after the wind storm. Some were completely tipped over, some just had a tower or two tipped.
A bin and irrigation pipe littered a field west of North Bend.
This train derailed about 5:30 a.m. Tuesday near McGinn's Lakes about three miles west of North Bend. It is unclear if the winds caused the accident.
Union Pacific crews clean up the damage from the derailment.
