Homer the Haymarket Hound, the mascot of the Lincoln Saltdogs baseball team, will be visiting North Bend Thursday.

Homer, who will be in town to promote Sunday’s North Bend Night at Haymarket Park, will be at the North Bend City Park at 10 a.m. to meet and greet area kids. Anyone is welcome to stop by and meet the mascot and have a picture taken with him.

Homer will also be filming a short video that will be shown on the Haymarket Park big screen. Kids who show up at the park Thursday will have a chance to be in the video. Several area businesses who bought blocks of tickets will also be featured in the video, including Birchwood Manor, NBC, the North Bend Eagle and Platte Valley Bank.

A limited number of tickets in the North Bend section are still available at Platte Valley Bank. North Bend Night at Haymarket park is this Sunday, July 17, with first pitch at 5:05 p.m. Parking for North Benders will be in a lot south of the stadium.
Gates to the ballpark open at 4 p.m. At that time North Bend rock band Collasus will be playing in the picnic area above the first base line. Members of Collasus are Drew Dolezal, Eric Kloke, Kyle Krula and Luke Dolezal.

One of North Bend’s little league baseball teams will be serving as the Watchdogs. They will get to run onto the field with the Saltdog players as the lineup is announced and remain on the field for the national anthem, which will be sung by NBE sixth grader Miranda Trowbridge.

During the fourth inning, a North Bend representative will be interviewed during the radio broadcast of the game on KFOR 1240 AM.
