Christmas services planned

Opportunities for Christmas celebrations are offered by area churches and camps this coming season.

Moses Merrill Camp and Conference Center is having Advent Services at 4 p.m. There will be a Christmas Eve servied at 5 p.m. at the Friendship Chapel with the public invited. The camp is located six miles west Morse Bluff on the Linwood Road.

St. Peter Lutheran Church will be having their children’s Christmas program Dec. 15 at 6:30 p.m. On Dec. 24 at 6 p.m. there will be a Christmas Eve Candlelight Service.

St. Peter will be holding a New Year’s Eve Service at 6 p.m. on Dec. 31.

Former members of St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church, Pleasant Valley, are planning to hold a Christmas Eve Candlelight Service of Lessons and Carols at 7 p.m. on Dec. 24. The church , which closed in 2002, is located near the intersection of County Road L and 4, eight miles north and three miles west of North Bend. All friends and former members are invited to once again worship at the little white church on the hill.

The United Presbyterian Church will have a Christmas Eve Service at 5 p.m. with communion being served.

First United Methodist Church will be having its annual cookie exchange on Dec. 19 at 9 a.m. Every woman in the congregation brings cookies and plates are made to distribute to those in the community who are no longer able to travel to the church easily.

There will be a candlelight service on Christmas Eve at 5:30 p.m at the Methodist Church.

The Morse Bluff and Cedar Hill Catholic churches share a minister and Christmas services. Confessions will be heard at St. George with visiting priests assisting from 4 p.m. with a short opening prayer and will last until all confessions are heard. Additional Confession times offered before Christmas are Dec. 23, 8:30 to 9:30 a.m., 5 to 7p.m.m both at Saint George; Dec. 24, 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart,1 a.m. until finished at Saint George. Appointments for confession can also be made by calling the Rev. Hazuka.

Christmas mass schedule begins Dec. 24 with 6 p.m. at Saint George; Dec. 25 at midnight at Sacred Heart with Christmas hymns beginning at 11:30 p.m. and 9 a.m. at Saint George. The Sunday Mass schedule includes mass Dec. 25 at 6 p.m. at St. George and Dec. 26 at 8 a.m. at St. George and 10 a.m. at Scared Heart.

St. Charles Catholic Church will have mass at 5:30 p.m. Christmas Eve and at midnight. On Christmas Day mass is at 8:30 a.m. and on the 26th there will be 8:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. masses.

St. Leo Catholic Church in Snyder will have mass on Christmas day and Dec. 26 will be at 10:15 a.m.

St. John’s Ridgeley Lutheran Church will have a Christmas Eve program at 6:30 p.m. and a Chrustmas Day Worship at 10 a.m.

Ames Community Church is having their Christmas program Dec. 19 at 10:30 a.m. There will be a Christmas Eve service Dec. 24 at 6:30 p.m.
