About 20 to 22 North Bend residents gathered for a town hall meeting to discuss the direction of North Bend’s future at the city auditorium last Wednesday. David Potter of JEO Consulting ran the discussion as part of the process updating of North Bend’s comprehensive plan and zoning regulations. “The comprehensive plan is the blueprint for the next 10, 20 years,” Potter said. “It is what you want your community to be.” Potter asked the audience to suggest items to write on four lists posted at the front of the room: “What I like about North Bend,” “What I dislike about North Bend,” “What is the vision for North Bend,” and “What needs to happen to achieve your vision.” After the lists were completed, Potter gave everyone 12 dot stickers and told them to place three dots on each list by the items each person thought was the most important. Potter will present the results of the priorities the group came up with in his next meeting with North Bend’s Council and planning commission on Oct. 20. Below are the lists the town hall meeting produced. Keep in mind that the items on the lists do not necessarily reflect a consensus of the group in attendance, but rather are a list of individual suggestions volunteered at the meeting.
