
New teachers greet NBC studentsby Mary Le Arneal Three new faculty will greet students as they begin classes Aug. 19. Kim Krivolavek will be the new vocal music teacher in kindergarten - 12. She is a graduate of the University of South Dakota - Vermillion. Her previous teaching experinence include 11 years at Spencer-Naper and three years each at Orchard and Emerson-Hubbard. Krivolavek and her husband Dan have five children: Michael, who will be in seventh grade at NBC; Danny and Miranda, fifth and fourth grade students at NBE; Carter, 3, and Trace, 1. They are making their home in North Bend. Krivolavek list her hobby as scrapbooking. Krivolavek said she is very excited to be in North Bend and is looking forward to a great year. Ross LaFleur will be teaching Exploration 7, English 7, English 10 and Mass Communication classes as well as directing the all-school play, One-Acts, junior high play and head coach for the speech team. LaFleu, a Madison native, is a 2009 graduate of Wayne State College where he obtained a degree in 7-12 Language Arts with a Spanish minor. He did his student teaching at Wisner-Pilger last spring. His parents, Lance and Jane Lafleur, operate the family business in Madison and his mom is a first grade teacher. He had two younger brothers who are students at Wayne State. Lafleur has made his home in North Bend and looks forward to getting to know the community. In his spare time he enjoys traveling, photography, art and live theater. “Everyone I have met so far has been very welcoming,” Lafleur said, “which speaks volumes to the type of community I have the privilege to serve.” Ray Kirkpatrick will be the new instrumental music and Director of Bands at NBCPS. He is a native of East Dubuque, Ill., and a graduate of Loras College, Dubuque, Iowa. His teaching career has been in Nebraska with four years at Wauneta-Palisade, 14 years at Harvard and four years at Centura. Kirkpatrick and his wife, Lori, have made their home in Fremont. They have two grown children, Kelly and Cory. In his spare time Kirkpatrick likes to golf and performs in two bands. “I am excited to be teaching at such a fine school system,” Kirkpatrick said. “I am looking forward to meeting and working with the people of the NBC schools and the parents of our students.” <<Back to the archives page |
